Luis Suárez Given TWO Game Ban, Barcelona File Appeal for Copa del Rey Final vs. Alavés

Well, this isn’t going great...

Barcelona's appeals process is not going according to plan. Instead of forgiving a one-game ban, officials have actually extended Luis Suárez’s ban to two games.

He was sent off after two soft yellows in quick succession in Barcelona’s Cup semifinal triumph over Atlético Madrid. The club asked for one of the two cards to be rescinded so the player could take part in the Copa del Rey final against Alavés.

But the Competition Committee went the opposite way — handing the Uruguayan striker a ban for an additional game for not leaving towards the dressing room after being expelled from the field. He would miss not just the final, but the first game in next season’s Copa.

Barcelona will appeal the ban to the Appeals Committee, but as we see, these appeals don’t always work.

On the other hand, a yellow card to Sergio Busquets was removed. He booted a ball off the field, and the referee thought he was time-wasting and booked him. But actually, there was another ball on the field and he was doing the correct thing.
