The player will miss the final if the appeal is not successful.
Luis Suárez was sent off in the dying minutes of FC Barcelona’s Copa del Rey clash against Atlético Madrid for two yellow cards, both debatable. Now, he’s set to miss the final unless Barcelona’s appeal is successful.
The forward’s first card came in the 86th minute, when he clipped an Atléti player from behind. A foul for sure, but a very soft card.
Suárez received the second yellow for his hand making contact with Koke’s face as time was expiring in the 1-1 match which gave Barcelona the pass to the final.
Suárez was incensed afterwards, saying his second yellow was not even a foul, and that his first yellow was unfair as it was only his first foul in the game.
Now his team is appealing the ruling, but even Luis Enrique was not too confident in the chances of that succeeding.
The Uruguayan striker missed most of last season’s Copa del Rey final after being subbed off early with an injury. Barcelona still won the cup.
