UEFA assign referee for Champions League match between Manchester City and Barcelona

Very good referee. Very good.

We have a whistle blower for the next Barcelona match, and it's a good one.

UEFA announced the list of referees and assistants assigned to the Champions League matches taking place this week, and Viktor Kassai from Hungary has been appointed as the official for Tuesday's match between Manchester City and Barcelona at the Etihad. This will be Kassai's second Champions League assignment this season (PSG 1-1 Arsenal, group stage).

Kassai is without a doubt one of the best referees on Earth today. Although he's a little bit of a fan of bookings (4.56 cards per game), he rarely makes wrong decisions, knows how to conduct a match in the disciplinary side and is usually fair with his card distribution.

The 41-year-old has officiated Barça two matches before. The most famous game was the 2011 Champions League Final, when Pep Guardiola's Barcelona beat Manchester United at Wembley Stadium to win the fourth European Cup in club history. Kassai also refereed a humiliating 4-0 loss Barça suffered at hands of Bayern Munich in the 2013 semifinal. The only time Kassai was the official in a Man City was also in a loss to Bayern Munich, in the group stage of the 2011/12 season.

So this is a great referee for what promises to be a great game. Perfect.
