Report: Ter Stegen medically cleared, set to play in Barcelona's Champions League opener

The starting Barça keeper is fit to start on Tuesday

Good news: Barcelona's best goalkeeper is fit again.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Marc-André ter Stegen has been medically cleared by the Blaugrana staff and will be available for selection on Tuesday's Champions League group stage opener against Celtic at Camp Nou. Ter Stegen's presence will be determined by manager Luis Enrique, but the German is healthy and ready to play.

The 24-year-old missed Saturday's La Liga loss against Alavés after picking up a small hamstring strain in Friday's training session. Luis Enrique preferred to rest the keeper in hopes of getting him ready for the Celtic match, and his idea worked. New signing Jasper Cillessen faced Alavés in place of Ter Stegen, but is still in contention to start on Tuesday if Enrique is still unsure about the German's status.

Ter Stegen has already picked up two injuries in the first month of the new campaign after becoming the undisputed starting goalkeeper thanks to Claudio Bravo's departure. After a two-week absence due to a knee injury, Stegen missed only two days with this new problem. Hopefully this was the last issue he's had this season.
