Sergi Roberto takes part in training session, could play against Atlético

Barcelona received some good news on Wednesday's training session as the team prepares for a tough return to La Liga, facing Atlético Madrid at Vicente Calderón on Saturday. Without the injured Dani Alves and suspended Gerard Piqué, the Blaugrana were also worried that their new right-back, Sergi Roberto, could also miss the game because of a hamstring injury. But he might be read to play.

The midfielder turned into full-back took part in the full training session with his teammates, and there were reportedly no setbacks or complaints of pain. If Roberto trains well again on Thursday, he should be cleared by the medical staff to travel with the squad to the Spanish capital.

Roberto's status is huge for coach Luis Enrique, who has trusted the Spaniard with a lot of minutes on defense all preseason and the first official games of the new campaign, and the player has responded with very solid performances that gave Lucho an alternative after Alves went down. If Roberto is indeed healthy, Enrique could be able to repeat the Roberto-Mascherano-Vermaelen-Alba defensive lineup that is yet to concede in the Spanish League.

The only confirmed absence for Saturday's clash is goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, who's set to miss up to three weeks with a calf injury. In his place, Cup keeper Marc-André ter Stegen is set to play his first ever league game for the Blaugranes.
