With the injury to Rafinha Alcântara that likely requires season-ending surgery, Barcelona desperately needs a replacement to add depth to what has become a ridiculously thin midfield. While the club has been rumored to be looking to a winger to replace Pedro Rodríguez, it appears that the club is shifting its efforts towards a midfielder for the January window.
Diario Sport is reporting that Barça is looking for a cheap buy once their transfer ban is over, and the best choice at a low price would be former Sevilla and current Villarreal midfielder Denis Suárez. The former Blaugrana was loaned to the Seville side last season, and was signed by the Yellow Submarine in the last days of the summer window.
However, even though he's no longer a Barça loanee, the Catalan giants still kept their buy-back clause on Denis, which they can exercise by paying a €3 million fee. If the Treble winners aren't able to sign Ilkay Gundogan, which could become their main target in the upcoming months, Suárez is a cheap, yet great alternative.
