Real Madrid and Barcelona will no longer monopolize the television money in Spain after a new deal was announced Thursday. Spain's two biggest clubs have negotiated their own agreements for the sale of broadcasting rights in recent years, giving them a huge advantage over the rest of the teams in La Liga, but that trend will now end after the Spanish government gave the green light for a new deal to be brought in.

Espanyol kept their hopes of qualifying for Europe alive by battling to a late 2-1 win at struggling Granada. The Catalans took the lead on the stroke of half-time through Sergio Garcia but Granada levelled in the 73rd minute through Diego Mainz, only for Paco Montanes to restore Espanyol's lead 11 minutes later.
