Could this be the last match of the La Liga season? There's a distinct possibility given recent off the field developments, and if so, it is absolutely imperative that FC Barcelona claim victory this evening against Real Sociedad, as it might just wrap up the La Liga title. As expected, Luis Enrique has named a strong squad for tonight's match; Ivan Rakitic has been left out of the 18-man squad, but he is the only first team regular to miss out, alongside the usual suspects of Martin Montoya, Douglas, Jordi Masip and of course, the injured Jeremy Mathieu.
Don't get your hopes up though if you're a Thomas Vermaelen fan; it still seems unlikely that the Belgian will be afforded his Barça debut.
For Barcelona, this match represents a chance at redemption -- to atone for the January defeat that plunged the club into crisis. While we eventually emerged out of that period for the better, it was a difficult time for Cules across the globe, and it'd be nice to see the team come full circle and avenge that loss with an eighth consecutive victory tonight.
