It looks like Denis Suárez will have to develop a little more until he returns to Barcelona.
According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana club has decided not to call the midfielder back in the first year of his loan to Sevilla, so the 21-year-old will remain in Andalusia for the full two years of his contract with the Rojiblancos.
There was a bit of expectations among sources that Barça could call him back this summer in light of the transfer ban, but with Ivan Rakitic and Rafinha Alcântara's amazing performances this season, coach Luis Enrique is beyond satisfied with the showing of his current midfielders, so he would rather see Denis continue to develop in a bigger role away from Barça instead of bringing him in too soon to compete for a spot in a deep squad.
Plus, the coaching staff continues to be impressed by Sergi Samper's development at Barça B, and 'Mini Busi' is the favorite to earn a call to The Big Show next season, according to sources. If Samper indeed steps into the big stage, Suárez would have even less opportunities at midfield in the 2015-16 campaign, so keeping him in Seville is an easy decision.
In addition to that, Sevilla's manager Unai Emery is in awe with Denis' development in a short period under his guidance. Unlike the Gerard Deulofeu situation, the club is extremely happy with Suárez's commitment and his performances on the field, so it's a no-brainer for them to accept Barça's request to keep him around one more year.
Denis has a tricky contract situation. The two-year loan agreement comes with a buy option of €6 million for the Sevillistas if they want to sign the player. If they exercise that option, Barça has a €9 million clause they could exercise to buy Suárez back. So, if next season goes well, Sevilla will earn €3 million from a loan. What a deal.
