Former Barcelona manager Tata Martino: "Messi has been superlative this year"

Former Barcelona and current Argentina national team manager Tata Martino is preparing to call up the Albiceleste 23-man squad for the Copa América, to be contested starting mid-June. And the skipper was full of praise for Lionel Messi, whom he continues to coach since last season, on an interview he did with a South American newspaper.

Here's a few highlights of his answers:

"Messi knows that he needs a good team around him, but more importantly, he now has all the tools necessary to make his team play better. We now have a much more mature, better team player, and that has a lot to do with what happened in the last World Cup. There we came to see a player less spectacular individually, but a lot more aware of what his responsibilities were within the team.

"That's great for me, because I know I'll always have his individual talent, I'll continue to have now and every time he wants to shine. Ever since 2015 started Messi has been superlative in almost every match, so we hope to have him the same way in the Copa."

Looks like Tata misses being with Leo every day.
