La Liga News: 12 April 2015; Barça Squander Two Goal Lead, Drop Two Points to Sevilla

Sevilla FC v FC Barcelona: Catalans falter late, draw in Andalusia (2-2) | FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona came into the Sánchez Pizjuán in Sevilla on Saturday night with the honourable distinction as the last team to have won there, and they’ll head back home with no change to that status. The Catalans left the field on a sour note after failing to put away their Andalusian rivals despite going up 2–0 in the first half hour, eventually conceding the tying goal to Sevilla’s Kévin Gameiro with eight minutes left to play.

Iniesta says draw isn't the end of the world | FC Barcelona

After FC Barcelona’s disappointing 2–2 draw at Sevilla, the Barça players spoke to the media. The team feels down for letting in the equaliser after a generally good performance in the Sanchez Pizjuan, especially in the first half. Nevertheless they are still aware that they depend on themselves in the race for the league title.

Luis Enrique says Barça are still in first | FC Barcelona

Luis Enrique didn’t say whether he thought Barça deserved anything more than a 2–2 draw at Sánchez Pizjuán after their first half performance. "It doesn’t matter if it’s fair or not, it is what it is and it’s not changeable," said the coach, noting that "it’s okay, we’re still in first place." The coach reiterated that he believes that the league championship will not be decided until the end. "Last year the league was decided on the last day. This year we are leaders before that."

I don't think it's a moment, it's a process. You go to the stadium to watch matches with your family; your dad or grandad take you to games every weekend and slowly you start falling in love with the club and its history. Then, when I was seven or eight and started playing for the youth team, that's when the Barça colours began to really mean something special to me.

Where are they now? In the dugout, that’s where, and not just any dugout. Take a look at the picture above. It is nearly 19 years old now: 28 August 1996, the side that won the Spanish Super Cup. You will recognise some of the faces, and among them are four of the eight coaches in the Champions League quarter-finals: this week Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich face Julen Lopetegui’s Porto and Laurent Blanc’s Paris Saint-Germain take on Luis Enrique’s Barcelona. Their Barcelona, where they all played together.
