The visitors had to come from behind on Sunday
Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman hailed Sunday’s 2-1 win over Villarreal as a “big step” towards the title as his players came from behind to take all three points.
The win means Barca move level on points with Real Madrid, with a game in hand, after the defending champions dropped points on Saturday against Real Betis.
Barca know they will finish top of the pile if they win their last six matches, but Koeman warned there is still a long way to go.
“It’s a big step towards the title. Each win is a step in the right direction. Each game is difficult,” he explained.
“We reacted well to going behind and created chances. We were tiring in the final stages, but we defended well.
“We know that, with six games to go, if we win all six, we’re going to be champions. But I think our opponents are going to make life difficult. We’ve still got to play Atletico.
“There’s a long way to go, but we’re going to give everything to try to win.”
