The former Barcelona player speaks out on his old clubs’ decision to join a new competition
Former FC Barcelona and current São Paulo fullback Dani Alves has spoken out on the news that has rocked the football world. Namely, that two of his former employers, Barcelona and Juventus, alongside 10 other top European clubs, are forming a new “Super League.”
“Football was, is, and will always be a sport that transforms lives,” the defender wrote on his official Twitter account.
“We should not allow ‘suits’ to spoil these possibilities of little ones dreaming of becoming big!!!”
Though Alves did play for Juventus as well as Barcelona, the Brazilian chose to accompany his tweet with a picture of himself in a blaugrana shirt alongside Lionel Messi.
Futebol foiii, é, e sempre será um esporte que transforma vidas.
