Barcelona remain the player’s first choice

Juventus are joining FC Barcelona in the pursuit for Memphis Depay’s signature, according to the latest paper talk. Barça boss Ronald Koeman is a fan of the forward, as they know each other form their time in the Dutch national team.

Lyon are aware that he may leave in the summer as his contract is up. Juventus are known for signing players on free transfers and it seems Depay would be an option they are interested in. Rumors are in the air that their frontline could have a major shakeup, particularly if Cristiano Ronaldo leaves.

Barcelona tried to bring Depay last summer but the deal ultimately did not materialize. It seems that Barcelona’s new director of football, Mateu Alemany, is still interested in him, but they are offering less money than what the previous regime offered.

Still, the rumor is that Depay himself wants to go to Barcelona and wants to reunite with Koeman, which gives the Catalans some leverage even as Juve and other teams such as Inter Milan and Atlético Madrid are said to be making their own pushes to sign him.

Another factor that could push Depay to join Barcelona is the fact that the blaugrana are certainly going to be in the UEFA Champions League. Right now that is not assured for Juventus, who are tied for third with Napoli and AC Milan in the Serie A table. Although, they do have a game in hand compared to Milan and two compared to Napoli, so there is a good chance for them to stay in the top four.

Still, the chances are good for Depay to end up at the Camp Nou if the Catalans continue to want him.
