Oh yeah, and Barcelona are top!
FC Barcelona are top of the league on goal difference, with Real Sociedad tied on points. Meanwhile Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid continued dropping points with a draw for both. Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao moved into third and fourth place, while Alaves and Malaga remain without a single point. These were the headlines on La Liga’s third round of fixtures.
Barcelona got an impressive 5-0 triumph over Espanyol, putting their goal difference at +9. The Catalans are yet to receive a goal in the three games played so far.
Real Sociedad won again to remain perfect along with Barcelona. La Real are off to their best start since the 1981-82 league, which they ended up winning. They got off to a 2-0 start against Deportivo La Coruña, but the home side fought back to draw level. But Diego Llorente and Asier Illarramendi struck late to bring the match back into Real Sociedad’s column.
Real Madrid drew again, this time against newly promoted Levante. The visitors jumped to a shock lead through Ivi Lopez after he tucked away a long throw-in. Lucas Vazquez pulled Los Blancos level, but they never could get the winning goal. Marcelo was sent off for kicking an opponent.
Valencia secured a draw against Atletico Madrid after a goalless 90 minutes. Aletico are now 6th, Real are 7th, Levante 8th, and Valencia 9th.
Athletic Bilbao got a 2-0 win over Girona, while Sevilla thumped Eibar 3-0. Alaves lost again, this time against Celta Vigo. And in the Monday game, two teams without a point yet faced each other, assuring at least one would come away with their first points of the season. That team would end up being Las Palmas, who won 3-1 with goals from Jonathan Viera, Jonathan Calleri, and Loic Remy.
