Barça may have started the season in other campaigns with three straight wins but they have never done with such impressive figures.

The Camp Nou bowed at the feet of Lionel Messi once again on Saturday, his 38th career hat-trick leading the way in the 5-0 victory in the derby against Espanyol. With 20 goals in these fixtures, he is now the all-time top scorer. Messi scored two before the break and grabbed his third in the second half after Jordi Alba’s second assist of the night for the Argentinian. There were the home debuts of Paulinho and Dembélé to enjoy.

Ousmane Dembélé has made his debut with FC Barcelona. The French winger played the final minutes of the Barça v Espanyol match and he had time to provide the assist for Suárez’s goal. The match on Saturday was a special one for Dembélé as he played for Barça for the first time at the Camp Nou.

Barça gear up for a busy week with two matches in two competitions to navigate. First they take on Juventus at the Camp Nou in their Champions League debut at 8.45pm (all times CET) on Tuesday. Valverde’s side will look to kick off their Champions League campaign in style against the Italian champions. The second match is away to Getafe in the fourth La Liga fixture of the season.

La Liga president Javier Tebas has announced that the first league Clasico of the season will be played on Saturday, Dec. 23, at 1 p.m. CET with Real Madrid hosting Barcelona. The top game of the 17th round of La Liga fixtures was originally scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 20.

Laporta signs anti-Bartomeu petition | Football Espana
Former Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed he has signed the motion of no confidence against the club’s current board. Laporta – club president between 2003 and 2010 – lost out to current incumbent Josep Maria Bartomeu in the 2015 elections, in the wake of Barca winning the treble.
