Dembele reveals what Luis Suarez told him before Barcelona debut

The striker gave him some invaluable advice

Ousmane Dembele has revealed that Luis Suarez told him “to give him the ball and he would score” after he made his debut for Barcelona.

The new signing had a start to remember, arriving as a substitute in the second half, before laying a goal on for Suarez as Barcelona crushed Espanyol 5-0 at Camp Nou.

The win maintains the club’s 100% start to the season, with Barca yet to even concede a goal in La Liga, so far this season.

Speaking after the game, Dembele received the advice he had been given by both Suarez and Valverde as he prepared for his first outing in a Barca shirt:

“Valverde told me to relax and be calm,” he said.

“Suárez said to me to give him the ball and he would score. I did it and he scored, I’m very happy.

“I’m very happy, it was strange to be alongside the best in the world. It was a good victory and I felt a lot of emotions. I’ve fulfilled a dream.”

It was a smart start to life at Barcelona for Dembele and great to see Suarez back in the goals too. Let’s hope this is just the start of a great season for both players.
