Barcelona will have to pay €200m for Griezmann
We start today with news that Barcelona will still have to pay €200m if they want to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The France star’s release clause has been halved to €100m apparently, but this does not apply if Barcelona are interested, although it neglects to explain why.
Iniesta still to agree new deal
Over at AS, the word is that Andres Iniesta is still to agree a new deal with Barcelona, who are in no rush to get his renewal concluded.
Josep Maria Bartomeu has claimed the club have “an agreement in principle” but AS reckon there is still much work to do, and warn that Juventus could take advantage in January if no progress is made.
Valverde vetoed Seri deal
As we all know by now Jean Michael Seri could have been a Barcelona player this summer, with a deal all agreed before Barcelona backed out of the move at the last minute.
And according to Sport, the club decided to pull the plug on the Seri deal, because of Ernesto Valverde.
Apparently the new coach felt that the priority in the final days of the window was a replacement for Neymar and having already signed Paulinho, believed the squad already had enough midfielders.
Rafinha to leave in January
Meanwhile, Rafinha could be heading for the Camp Nou exit door in January, according to Mundo Deportivo.
They report that the Brazilian dreams of playing for Brazil at the World Cup and may well need regular playing time in order to do that.
And it seems he has a lengthy queue of admirers with Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal, Inter and AC Milan all interested.
Coutinho will not play in Champions League for Liverpool
Over at Sport, they are refusing to give up hope that one day Philippe Coutinho will join Barcelona, by claiming he could refuse to play in the Champions League for Liverpool.
The Brazilian, has of course, been named in the Reds’ squad for the competition but is so furious at his club he is willing to take drastic measures and has not ruled out a January move.
Dybala changes agent, prompts speculation
Over in Italy, the talk at La Gazzetta dello Sport is that Paolo Dybala has changed his agent, to his brother, who lives in Barcelona and…well surely you can guess the rest.
Of course Dybala only signed a new contract in April and was recently handed the iconic No.10 shirt , but let’s not let any of that get in the way of a good rumour shall we?
Bellerin wanted Barcelona move
The window may be closed but of course the rumors of what might have happened keep popping up.
According to the BBC’s David Ornstein, Hector Bellerin did want to move to Barcelona this summer and even told manager Arsene Wenger after he had returned from the Under 21 European Championship.
However, as we all know it didn’t work out for Bellerin, with Barca moving for Nelson Semedo instead.
Messi blocked Ozil move
And finally, it’s always worth taking a look at good old Don Balon who report that Barcelona decided not to make deadline day move for Mesut Ozil because of Lionel Messi.
Apparently, Messi did not think the Arsenal star would be a good investment and told the club to steer well clear, although he was disappointed at missing out on Coutinho and Angel Di Maria.
