How FC Barcelona Can Win La Liga

It stared at the Calderón, but it doesn’t end there.

Here are the remaining La Liga matches for FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. I’ve highlighted matches against the top 7, home or away, plus away games against teams in the top 14.

Barcelona are a point ahead, but Real Madrid have a game in hand. Sevilla are very much in the picture, just five points behind Barcelona, with a game in hand. But let’s focus on Barcelona and Madrid only for now.

Based on the games I highlighted, Real Madrid might have an easier schedule, though admittedly this is a crude way of counting.

Barcelona really needed a win against Atlético Madrid this past weekend, away from home. It was a really difficult match, but it was probably the second or at worst third-most difficult game left on paper.

Adding on to that was a confident win over Sporting Gijón while Real Madrid dropped two points at home to Las Palmas.

The Clásico offers an ideal time to steal some points from Real, but of course it’s gonna be a really difficult test. Sevilla could also be a tough test, although it will be at Camp Nou.

If Barcelona win all remaining matches, they win the trophy.

But let’s just imagine a scenario. Remember, Barcelona starts at 57 points and Real Madrid at 56 points:

Is it gonna happen like this? Nah, not likely. But hey, just the fact that we’re here discussing Barcelona’s title chances is weird in of itself.

What crazy scenarios are you cooking up?

Remember: the first tie-breaker is head-to-head, meaning a win for either Barcelona or Real Madrid in their upcoming game is a doubly huge. If indeed Barcelona and Real draw their match and end up tied on points, it would be down to goal difference. Currently Barcelona are 12 ahead in that statistic.
