Deportivo La Coruña vs. Barcelona, 2017 La Liga: Final Score 2-1, Lazy Barça lose on the road

Yeah, that happened.

After the miracle against PSG in midweek, Barcelona could not carry the momentum from that amazing comeback and lost a tough La Liga match against Deportivo La Coruña. The Blaugrana played poorly throughout the match, and the hosts took their chances to score two goals and win the game at the Riazor.

FIRST HALF

Barça were very poor throughout the half, keeping the ball a lot but failing to create any danger apart from a few set piece situations. The possession lacked ideas, and the Blaugrana paid for their bad performance when Joselu took advantage of a mistake by Ter Stegen and fired the hosts in front.

At halftime, the Catalans were playing poorly and needed a second half comeback to win.

SECOND HALF

Luis Suárez equalized ONE MINUTE into the second half, and the comeback became a lot easier for Barça. It seemed like the Blaugrana were ready to find the game-winner soon, but they didn't dial up the intensity and the minutes went on with a draw more and more likely to be the final result.

But football is a crazy game, and Alex Bergantiños put the hosts in front with a header after a corner. Barça all of a sudden had only 15 minutes to score two goals and win the match, and they couldn't find the goals mostly due to a terrible afternoon by Lionel Messi, who had a very lackluster performance and didn't do anything to change the match. Happens to everyone.
