FC Barcelona, Real Madrid announce 2017 preseason friendly in United States

MIAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

MIAMAAAAAAAAAAAY! GET READAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! El Clásico is coming to you!

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid announced on Friday they will face off in a preseason friendly on July 29th at the Hard Rock Stadium, home of the NFL's Miami Dolphins. The match will be under the umbrella of the International Champions Cup, a very rich preseason tournament that's become a tradition over the last few years.

According to the tournament organizers, Miami was chosen as the host city for El Clásico thanks to the large Hispanic population in Florida, which does make sense. There are a lot of soccer fans in Orlando and Miami, and while a spectacular venue like the Dallas Cowboys stadium would certainly be sold out, it's better to have really passionate fans of Barça and Madrid watching the game in what is a pretty sweet stadium as well.

This is only the second time that El Clásico takes place outside of Spain. They first met in 1982 when they took part in a preseason tournament in Venezuela, South America. Barça's record in El Clásico friendlies is very good: 19 wins, 8 draws and just four losses in 31 games against their biggest rivals.

The new Barça manager (PLEASE BE JORGE SAMPAOLI) will have a pretty tough preseason schedule this summer: Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester United in America before coming back to play the Joan Gamper Trophy against Chapecoense at Camp Nou.
