Xavi Hernández Dreams of Coaching FC Barcelona

And his “project” is just getting started...

Xavi Hernández says he “dreams” of coaching FC Barcelona one day, though he is still not ready to take the reigns.

In an interview with Le Parisien, the FC Barcelona legend and current Al-Sadd player said his dream was “becoming a project” as he continues his training to become a manager.

However, he played down suggestions that he could become Luis Enrique’s successor. He said he still had to finish his coaching badges and to learn more about managing the locker room, as well as the technical and medical staff.

When asked if Zinedine Zidane's fast start as a coach for Real Madrid was an example to follow, Xavi said he was, adding that he also saw Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique as examples of players who successfully transitioned to coaches.

But before getting ahead of ourselves, let’s remember the midfield maestro still plays for Al-Sadd, who currently are competing for the Qatar Stars League.

Xavi reflected: “I still think like a footballer more than a coach. The next season will be my last player. Then we'll see.”
