Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen set for return after international break

The injury bug has done its job, now it's time to bring the guys back.

According to reports from Spain, Barcelona center-back Thomas Vermaelen is fully recovered from the calf injury that sidelined him for the last three weeks, and is set to rejoin the squad during the international break. If he does well during next week's training sessions when the internationals return, there is a very good chance that the Belgian defender receives the medical clearance for the next Barça game, a La Liga match at home against Rayo Vallecano.

Vermaelen suffered a calf strain -- which is a small muscular tear -- in the first half of the encounter with Atlético Madrid at Vicente Calderón on September 12th, and he has been out ever since. Due to his terrible history of physical problems, including a serious groin issue that kept him of his entire first year with the Blaugrana, many thought that this could mean that his injuries were not gone.

However, according to sources, this is a normal issue that can happen to any kind of player, injury-prone or not, and the recovery process is the same for everyone. His recovery has gone according to plan, and he is responding well to every new test or exercise.

Worry not, Blaugranes. The Verminator will be back. Soon.
