The striker was on target in the Champions League
Barcelona striker Marc Guiu is playing his way into contention after scoring again for the first team in the Champions League in midweek.
Guiu grabbed his first Champions League goal on Wednesday, a rare bright spot on an otherwise dismal night for Barcelona.
The striker had already opened his account for the first team, before jetting off to the Under-17 World Cup with Spain.
He kept up his goalscoring exploits with the national team before they were knocked out and returned to his club side.
Guiu is now hoping for more chances with Xavi’s side and says he already knows he must grab them with both hands.
“We are disappointed by the result, but happy to have scored and to have helped the team. And already thinking about Valencia,” he told the club’s media.
“Xavi told us to work hard, that the game was important. And although it didn’t go well for us, I think we worked hard. I am very grateful to Xavi and I know that I have to take advantage of the moments he has.”
Guiu’s goal will certainly not have harmed his chances of minutes, particularly at a time when Robert Lewandowski is struggling for form at Barca.
