The youngster’s made an early impression
Pedri has not been at Barcelona for too long but it seems the 17-year-old has already convinced Ronald Koeman of his qualities.
The teenager has been handed a first-team squad number and made his La Liga debut on Sunday against Villarreal, coming on as a late substitute for Philippe Coutinho.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Koeman is a big fan of the youngster. He likes his versatility, work-rate and the way he’s taken on and implemented instructions from the coaching staff.
The report suggests Pedri already feels pretty at home at Barcelona and is not satisfied with just being in the first-team squad and wants much more.
Certainly, Koeman took time out to praise Pedri and Ansu Fati after Barcelona’s win on Sunday night at the Camp Nou.
“Ansu’s performance has to be highlighted. I’m very happy with him. We know he’s only 17 and has things to improve. He has to find consistency and sometimes he lacks concentration.
“He wasn’t so good against Elche but today he was. He had a great match. I’m very happy with him and Pedri. They both have great futures.”

Both players are still only 17 but look to have big futures ahead of them at the Camp Nou. Fati already looks like he’s a key player for Koeman, and Pedri will be hoping he can continue to have chances to impress in his first season with the club.
