Liverpool To Offer 100 Million for Ousmane Dembélé? About That...

A critical look at transfer sourcesransfer sour

Mundo Deportivo and Diario SPORT both are running a story on the front page of their sites saying Liverpool are willing to pay about 100 million euros for Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembélé.

But there’s something to note about that story - the source is The Sun.

The Sun is perhaps the most hated paper among Liverpool supporters, and Liverpudlians in general. The paper published a false account of the 1989 Hillsborough football disaster, in which almost 100 people died and several hundred others were wounded, claiming several victims acted in a criminal manner. While The Sun has since apologized for what they call their most regretted error, most Liverpudlians have said the paper is not forgiven.

We don’t have any insider information in this case, but any retelling of this rumor without the proper context is not giving you the full picture. Ask your friends who support Liverpool if they trust any exclusive rumors from The Sun about the Reds.

Meanwhile, James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo writes:

Dembele is not a player being targeted by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. In fact Klopp has no intention of adding to his squad in January as he believes the Reds are already well equipped in all departments to maintain a challenge for silverware.

Again, make up your own mind here, but ask your Liverpool supporting friends what they think about news from James Pearce vs. news from The Sun when it comes to Liverpool FC.
