One of the squad’s veterans has given his vote of confidence to the young star
Ousmane Dembélé is a “good kid” and a “great footballer” according to Sergio Busquets, who has just played his 500th career match for FC Barcelona. The midfielder spoke out about rumors that Dembélé had disciplinary issues in an interview with Diario SPORT.
The veteran said the situation was not “as difficult as it seems from the outside,” acknowledging that the winger “has come from a foreign country and needs an adaptation process.”
“We want to help him and hopefully,” Busquets continued, “he gives us a lot, because he can do it”
He said it was hard for any young player to break into Barcelona’s starting XI, “even for those who are said to be the new Xavi or Andrés Iniesta.”
He also weighed in on Lionel Messi’s speech during preseason in which he told fans he was looking to win the UEFA Champions League again. “People are taking Leo’s speech to heart too much, it’s a very difficult competition,” the midfielder concluded.
