A report has highlighted their massive wage bill
The extent of Barcelona’s huge wage bill has been highlighted by a new survey which reports the Catalan giants average £10.5 million a year in first-team player wages.
The Global Sports Salary Survey, published on the Sporting Intelligence website, shows how Barcelona will pay its first-team squad an average of £10,454,259, excluding bonuses.
That works out to an average pay of over £201,043 a week for a first teamer. The figure has increased by a third from last season where they spent £6.6m.

As you can see Barcelona top the standings ahead of Real Madrid (£8m) in second. Next up are NBA sides Oklahoma City Thunder (£7.8m) and Golden State Warriors (£7.8m). The next football teams on the list are Juventus in ninth (£6.7m), ahead of Manchester United (£6.5m).
The main reason for the huge rise is Lionel Messi’s new deal. The captain reportedly earns £50m annually before tax. Barcelona have also handed Sergio Busquets, Gerard Pique, Sergi Roberto and Samuel Umtiti new and improved deals.
