His next appearance will trigger a clause
If Nelson Semedo takes the pitch on Sunday for Barcelona it’ll be his 50th appearance for the club since joining them. Him doing so will add €5 million to Barcelona’s paycheck to Benfica. That’s due to a clause in the transfer.
“There are additional payments planned based on the player’s performance. A fee of €5,094,965 is due when he makes 50 official appearances for Barcelona.”

While the extra cash Barcelona have to send over to Benfica isn’t the greatest of news for the club, having Semedo make that many appearances is truly a good sign for the transfer value overall. Barcelona are getting their money’s worth.
