Barcelona won 6-0 but their clean sheet came thanks only to a bonafide blooper
Barcelona Femení are on a roll. They’re top of their league table. And they just thrashed their UEFA Women’s Champions League rival, Gintra Universitetas by a whopping 6-0.
But Gintra had a chance to spoil the clean sheet at least, and the fact that they didn’t is down to an error that can only be described as pure comedy.
Losing 3-0 with 66 minutes gone, Gintra had a long ball which the Barcelona keeper failed to clear. Clean through with an open goal, three players had the chance to score an easy tap-in. How they missed almost defies description:
Wow. Now we know what it would look like if Karim Benzema, Ronaldo, and Luis Suárez tried to score all at once in La Liga.
Maybe we shouldn’t be too harsh. They’re good for the Lithuanian league, but Gintra is a minnow at European level, to say the least.
Oh well. Let’s not take away from the fact Barça played a great game. The best goal probably was the long range shot from English star Toni Duggan. Full highlights:
