Valverde gives his view after Barcelona denied clear goal in draw with Valencia

The Barca boss has had his say on the controversial incident

Ernesto Valverde was pretty composed after Barcelona’s 1-1 draw with Valencia which saw Rodrigo open the scoring before Jordi Alba equalised late on.

However, the main talking point of the game was how Barca were denied a clear goal when Neto fumbled a Lionel Messi shot over the line.

It was pretty obvious, even without replays, the ball had gone over, but it was missed by the match officials.

Obviously Valverde was asked about the incident after the game and he gave a pretty classy reply. Here’s what he said...

"In our game against Malaga, we had a goal count when the ball had clearly gone out," he said.

"We all agree that in these very clear plays, you don't need the replays.

"However, we are still facing these moments where a ball crosses the line and it can't be seen."

The Barca boss also seemed pretty happy with the point, that keeps Barca four points clear at the top of La Liga.

"It was a hard fought game," he said.

"We were exposed because they are great on the counter attack.

"We know they are a strong team at home and in the end we earned a draw, it was a good game."

It was a great first half from Barca at Mestalla although the failure to award the goal was a really poor miss from the officials, surely it’s time for goalline technology in La Liga?
