Barcelona vs. Murcia, 2017 Copa del Rey: Final score 5-0, Valverde’s men cruise to victory

The hosts enjoyed themselves at Camp Nou on Wednesday

As expected, Barcelona comfortably secured their place in the next round of the Copa del Rey as they cruised to a 8-0 aggregate victory over Real Murcia at Camp Nou.

Ernesto Valverde handed a first-team debut to 18-year-old Oriol Busquets and there was also another start for 19-year-old Carles Alena in midfield too.

FIRST HALF

Barca bossed the first half but went in at the break with just a single goal to show for their efforts after a pretty tame first 45 minutes.

Paco Alcacer was the man to give the hosts the lead, heading Barca in front after Gerard Deulofeu had driven into the box.

The ball was then deflected into Alcacer’s path and he had the sample task of heading into the net.

SECOND HALF

The second half was much brighter, Deulofeu hitting the post before Gerard Pique slotted home Aleix Vidal’s pull-back to double Barca’s lead.

Vidal then got on the scoresheet himself, Nelson Semedo picking him out beautifully to head past Santome in the Murcia goal.

A raft of substitutions followed, with Sergi Roberto making his comeback from injury and setting up Denis Suarez for Barca’s fourth with a brilliant ball which Denis matched with a lovely finish.

Suarez then turned provider, backheeling for Jose Arnaiz to smash home from a tight angle to make it 5-0 and put the gloss on a fine second-half display.
