The Argentine was keen to move to Camp Nou
Angel Di Maria has opened up on last summer’s transfer dealings which saw the Paris Saint-Germain star heavily linked with a move to Barcelona.
A deal ultimately failed to happen but the Argentinian seems to have been keen on joining the Blaugrana.
"I was close and at the same time very far from reaching a deal with Barca," Di Maria said.
"I never lost hope over the chance. I was calm about it but it never happened.
"For sure, life takes many twists and turns and one never knows what the future might hold."

Rumors linking Di Maria with Barcelona continue to float around, largely because PSG may well have to sell in January in an attempt to meet Financial Fair Play requirements.
Whether Barca will still be interested remains to be seen but it seems Di Maria would not take much convincing to move to Camp Nou.
