Report: Barcelona, Real Madrid to battle for Dele Alli in summer transfer window

SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURE

The winter transfer window has just opened, but Silly Season is already thinking about the summer.

A few reports from England (ESPN, The Mirror) are claiming that both Barcelona and Real Madrid are ready to offer as much as €80 million for Tottenham Hotspur rising star Dele Alli in the summer transfer window. After having their transfer ban reduced to just one window, Madrid are free to do business in July, and apparently they REALLY want to sign Alli (or Dele, as he wants to be called).

But where do Barcelona come into the play? Is there any logical reason to link one of the most promising midfielders in English football to the biggest club on Earth?

NOPE. Dele Alli is linked with a move to Barcelona because every great player is linked with Barcelona at one point or another. It doesn't matter if the player doesn't look like a great fit (check), is too expensive because of a potential battle with a rival (check) and is just a little overrated by the English media because he's shining in the Premier League (check).

Don't get me wrong, I'm a giant fan of Dele. He just doesn't fit the style of play or the tactical system and there are very good young players in his position at Barça already (André Gomes, Denis Suarez, Rafinha, Carles Aleñá). Doesn't make sense.

But Silly Season doesn't care about stuff making sense. Silly Season happens.
