With a great finish vs. Colombia.
Luis Suarez has tied Argentina legend Hernan Crespo’s record for goals in South American World Cup qualifying with his 19th goal in the competition’s history. He did so with this great finish to give his side the lead vs. Colombia:
You won’t see many finishes better than that from such a tight angle. He had no room for error and his the target perfectly to give Uruguay the lead in the 73rd minute.
Unfortunately, Colombia would find an equalizer before full-time to earn a share of the points, but the goal was extra special as it tied Crespo on the all-time CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying list.
Suárez goes level with Hernán Crespo as joint top scorer of all time in South American World Cup qualifiers, with 19. https://t.co/uQs6VxYDoq

The Barcelona talisman’s first chance to break the record and hold it for himself will be in November when Uruguay faces off against Ecuador at home. La Celeste currently sits atop the CONMEBOL WCQ table with 20 points out of 10 matches played. With the help of Suarez, they look a sure bet to qualify for the 2016 World Cup in Russia.
