Due to a terrifyingly bad cold, I apologize for the late writeup of these matches.
Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to begin this segment with an apology to you all for not completing my due articles for Barcelona's last couple of games. I cannot put enough emphasis on just how thankful I am again to be able to do this. People often speak of doing what makes you happy, and while this isn't exactly my job, it is still something that makes me happy, and I'm incredibly thankful for that.
I've missed writing up the last couple of games as I caught a pretty bad cold. Let me tell you this, I've developed a different viewpoint on the whole "player missing a couple of games because of the flu, or a cold, or gastritis" thing. I used to think man, these guys are professional football players, they should be able and push on through those small things. Well, I no longer feel that way. I caught just a simple, common cold and couldn't do anything for a week. I'm still struggling to get back into my routine.
As a way to catch up with my duties and make it up to everyone, I will do the first, and hopefully the only, Gamboling Goleadores of two matches in the same article. I will intentionally keep the description of why I chose the Goleadores shorter so as to not make an excessively long and dense article which might bore some folks. That being said, I hope you guys enjoyed the last couple of games and agree with some, if not all, of the Goleadores.
Barcelona vs Sporting Gamboling Goleadores!
1st Goleador: Neymar
Incredible game from the Brazilian. This is more of what we expect to see from the youngster. The creativity, the pace, taking control of the game, opening up the pitch with the suave dribble and the quick touch. And of course, some very deadly finishing. Neymar always seems so fall back and play second fiddle to Messi when the little genius is healthy, and while that is completely expected, it would be fantastic to see more of his shine with more consistency.
2nd Goleador: Sergi Roberto.
I know. Sergi Roberto again? Well, let me tell you something. When a player has three assists in a game as a Right Back, you can usually count on him being one of the best players on the pitch. The great Dani Alves will live on in our memories, but Sergi Roberto is quickly becoming one of the best, dare I say, ever.
3rd Goleador: Gerard Piqué
Oh, you wanted to score on Barcelona in this game? Well, good luck getting through Mathieu, because there was absolutely no way you were getting through Piqué in this game.
Barcelona vs. Borussia Mönchengladbach Gamboling Goleadores!
1st Goleador: Arda Turan
The Turkish international came on from the bench to try and provide some spark to an offense that had frankly looked anemic up until then. The German side were playing a truly beautiful game and were ahead in the scoreline, all while successfully shutting down Barcelona's attacking. Very soon after coming on, Arda provided an equaliser off of a superior strike on a tight angle from a terrific Neymar pass.
2nd Goleador: Neymar
The Brazilian continued to be the engine for the offense in the absence of the best player in the world. Despite Borussia's terrific defending, the young Brazilian was the only player that consistently throughout the game played passes and crosses that created the most danger to the German team.
3rd Goleador: Luis Enrique
A hefty amount of credit has to go to the coach. This match seemed by all accounts that it was going to end in a loss. The opposing team played a truly fantastic match, and could've easily won this game. Unfortunately for them, and for our tremendous benefit, we have in our bench a terrific coach. His changes took almost immediate effect, and proved to be the key in obtaining the victory.
That is it for this edition of the Goleadores. As always comments are welcome, and Visca Barça!
