FC Barcelona News: 15 October 2016: Vidal Left Out Of Squad, Messi and Umtiti Set For Returns

Barça take on Deportivo this afternoon at the Camp Nou (4.15pm CET) and the brilliant news is that all of Leo Messi, Ivan Rakitic and Samuel Umtiti have been declared fully fit and included in the squad that was announced this morning. However, Jasper Cillessen, Sergi Roberto and Jordi Alba, who all returned from international duty carrying injuries are not included, while Luis Enrique has also opted to leave Aleix Vidal out of the side.
The international break is over and FC Barcelona return to duty at 4.15pm CET in a home fixture against Deportivo la Coruña. It’s their first Liga appearance since 4-3 defeat at Celta, a result that saw them drop to fourth in the table. But despite that setback, the Blaugrana are only two points adrift of the leaders and a win today will help to put the title challenge right back on track!
"They’ve had two weeks to get ready for this game," he said at Friday’s pre-game press conference. "Our last two home matches against them plus the fact that we’re restarting competition are also aspects that could have a bearing on the game."
Barcelona will likely have hoped for a little easier draw in the Copa del Rey, given Hercules' recent heroics against them. The Blaugrana will travel to Alicante for the first leg at the end of November before welcoming the Segunda B outfit to the Camp Nou in December. Hercules currently occupy sixth place in the Spanish third tier but their recent record against Barcelona will serve as a massive warning to Luis Enrique's men not to take them lightly.
City will visit his former club for a highly anticipated Champions League group stage game midweek, and Iniesta expects a "very difficult" encounter with his former mentor. "It is special to play against Pep, as it was when he was at Bayern Munich. We share important things with him as people and at a club level. It will be a difficult rivalry," Iniesta said in an interview with Mundo Deportivo.
FC Barcelona defender Gerard Pique says he has no ambition to move in to coaching when he hands up his boots, instead he aims to become club President. The 29-year-old, who announced a week ago that he would retire from the Spanish national team following the 2018 World Cup finals, laid out his plans for the future in an interview with Catalan TV network, TV3.
