But the midfielder is going nowhere for now
Sergio Busquets has reportedly attracted interest from several Major League Soccer clubs this summer but will definitely be staying at Barcelona.
According to Fabrizio Romano, clubs in the United States have been doing their best to lure the Spain captain away from the Camp Nou but are destined to fail.
The 32-year-old is said to have been “tempted” by a move but is “100%” staying for the 2021-22 campaign, although he is likely to receive more offers in 2022 or 2023.
The midfielder’s contract at Barcelona expires in 2023 but there have been reports he could be set to sign a new deal.
Recent speculation has suggested Busquets could be offered a new deal that includes a 50% pay cut but runs for another two to four years.
Busquets is one of several players Barca are hoping to agree to a salary reduction in order to help the club’s financial problems.
The 32-year-old is currently away with Spain at Euro 2020 and has played a key role in the team’s success at the tournament since returning after testing positive for Covid-19.
La Roja are now just one game away from the final of the tournament and will take on Italy in the semi-finals on Tuesday at Wembley Stadium.
