The youngster made his first-team debut against Girona
Barcelona midfielder Nico Gonzalez is hoping for more first-team chances after making his debut on Saturday in the club’s pre-season friendly win over Girona.
The 19-year-old missed the win over Nastic due to illness but was in the team on Saturday and managed an hour before being replaced.
Nico is one of several youngsters being tipped to break into the first-team shortly and the teenager is enjoying being with the senior squad.
“They are very good people and they have welcomed all the youngsters very well. I am very comfortable and very happy. I’ve been training very well and I hope to have more opportunities like this one,” he said.
“At the beginning, being a preseason game, it is harder to start, but we had some very good minutes, with the goals and most of the chances in the first half. We have locked them in quite a bit and we have had very good feelings.”

Barcelona have already shown their faith in Nico by extending his contract this summer. The midfielder signed a deal that runs until 2024 in May and includes a buyout clause set at €500 million.
