The interest is there but no concrete offers have come through from them
Chelsea, Manchester United, and Juventus are interested in signing Antoine Griezmann, although there are no concrete offers from them as of yet, according to a new report.
FC Barcelona are keen on offloading the French star’s massive salary, but they also know they are holding a valuable player and want to make a deal only if conditions are right.
Atlético Madrid seemed to be in pole position to get Griezmann, in a reported swap which included Saúl Ñíguez going the other way. However, it seems talks broke down, with Barcelona hoping to get a bit more cash on top of getting Saúl, and Atlético refusing. In addition, the salaries commanded by Griezmann and Saúl were too high for both clubs.
Griezmann will start preseason, in all likelihood, still under contract with the Catalans. This could pose a problem considering how it seemed the Frenchman was out of the team at one point.
Barcelona are still looking for a buyer, and they have set their sights on the Premier League.
Chelsea are an option and United are also said to be interested if they are able to sign him for the right offer. In the case of the Red Devils, Griezmann had once been heavily linked with joining them before he ultimately signed with Barcelona.
Last of all, it is said Juventus are on alert regarding his future. But all of these clubs have yet to approach with an offer, and at the moment it’s not known if Griezmann would accept joining them.
And yet, the blaugrana desperately need to lighten the wage bill. Due to salary cap concerns, they have been unable to register Lionel Messi. It could turn into a real problem if they can’t find a buyer for Griezmann.
