The winger has left for Marseille
Konrad de la Fuente has sent an emotional goodbye message to Barcelona after sealing a switch to French side Marseille this week.
The 19-year-old has left the Camp Nou and signed a four-year deal with Jorge Sampaoli’s side for a fee of €3 million.
It’s a big change for Konrad who moved with his family to Barcelona at the age of 10 and joined the club’s Under-14B team in time for the 2013-14 season,
The American has now taken to Instagram to say farewell to Barcelona and make his feelings for the club crystal clear.
“From a young age many children dream about being footballers, however the innocence of a child makes it incomprehensible to know the true scope of the great efforts that must be made to get our dream.
“Today it’s up to me to make one of those sacrifices that I mentioned, to say goodbye to the club that has given me everything, to say goodbye to my family during these last 8 years at FCB.
“I want to thank FCB for how happy they made me during all these years, but above all I want to thank all my teammates with whom I have shared a dressing room, and the people with whom I have met, you are the true identity of this club.
“I promise you that I will always wear the badge engraved on my chest and that wherever I go I will share the values FCB has instilled in me with so much love and dedication. I hope that our paths will cross again someday.”
Konrad will be hoping he can go on and become a regular with Marseille next season. Indeed there were reports Sampaoli called the winger personally to convince him to make the switch. Marseille finished fifth last season in Ligue 1 and will play in the Europa League in 2021-22.
