The journey continues after a tough win over the Czech Republic
Denmark’s fantastic voyage continues as the Danes advanced to the Euro 2020 semifinal with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic in Baku to stamp their ticket to Wembley next week.
Martin Braithwaite started and played all 90 minutes, and while he didn’t score the Barcelona striker was certainly impactful as the game developed.
It was a dream start for the Danes when a corner from Stryger found a wide-open Thomas Delaney, who headed home the opener just eight minutes in.

Denmark knew the Czechs didn’t have a very talented team and decided to retreat, defend deep inside their half and counter attack. The plan worked to perfection just before halftime, when Maehle played a brilliant cross with the outside of his right foot and Kasper Dolberg volleyed home the second.

The Czech Republic didn’t give up and tried their best in the second half, scoring early through Patrik Schick to give themselves some life.

The lack of quality showed as the Czechs could never create a true goalscoring opportunity in the second half, and Braithwaite was one of the Danish forwards who did a masterful job of holding on to the ball and give the defense some breathing room until the final whistle came.
Denmark went from a terrible incident to a magical run, and now they face Ukraine or England for a place in the final. Christian Eriksen continues to smile.
