It’s time for the 2021 Copa America Final! After a tournament full of intense, emotional matches we have arrived at the last game, and it is the one we have all been waiting for.
Brazil and Argentina are the biggest rivals in international football, and that rivalry is renewed for a historic meeting at the historic Maracanã Stadium. There will be a small number of fans allowed at the arena to add some atmosphere to one of the biggest games in the sport, and this is really a big one.
Brazil cruised through the group stages and looked like strong favorites to dominate the tournament, but two narrow, hard-fought 1-0 wins over Chile and Peru in the knockout stages showed that Tite’s team can be vulnerable against quality opposition.
It’s hard to get any more quality than Argentina, who won an epic semifinal against Colombia to stamp their ticket to the title game in what has been a very strong tournament for Lionel Scaloni’s team. They are resilient defensively and usually need just one or two chances to score a goal, and Lionel Messi is having one of the greatest individual tournament performances in history.
Argentina look ready to claim their first trophy in three decades, and Messi is hungry to finally win a major title with his nation. It won’t be easy against Neymar and Co., but this could really be the year for the Albiceleste.
This will be so, so good.
