The latest updates from the Barcelona boss
Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde held his usual pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of Saturday’s La Liga clash with Osasuna.
Valverde started off by sending his support to Luis Enrique, gave an update on Lionel Messi’s fitness and also talked about the current transfer rumors.
Here is what he had to say:
Valverde on Luis Enrique
I want to send a message to Luis Enrique, in what are difficult times for his family. I want to convey love and send him a huge hug.
Valverde on Messi
We hope that for the game against Valencia he might be available. Then the Champions League starts and we hope to have him back for that but we will see how he progresses in these next two weeks.
Valverde on Neymar
I am very much looking forward to the day the transfer window closes. We can all then rest and know this is the squad that we have.
I have nothing more to say on the issue of Neymar. He plays for another team, we respect other clubs and we’ll see what happens.
Valverde on Rakitic and Dembele
He is a great player who has played a lot here and nothing makes me think he won’t be here. The season is very long and there is room for everyone. At the moment, he [Dembele] is injured. We’ll have to wait and see. I’m not going to comment on anything on Dembele.
Valverde on Osasuna
Osasuna have always been a fearsome team at El Sadar. They will want to take advantage of being at home in front of their people.
Valverde on Champions League draw
We’ve had a tough draw. It will be complicated as usual. We’ll try to finish first in the group against some great rivals.
