Barcelona have suffered an injury blow as midfielder Carles Alena is set to undergo surgery in Finland after picking up a problem on Saturday.
Alena suffered the injury during Barcelona B’s final game of the season as they went down 2-0 to Real Zaragoza.
Barcelona have now confirmed he suffered a “ruptured hamstring tendon of the right thigh” which requires surgery and is likely to rule him out of action for a while.

It sounds pretty much like the same injury Ousmane Dembele suffered at the start of his Barcelona career and kept him sidelined for months.
Barcelona have confirmed that Alena will be operated on by the same surgeon, Dr. Sakari Orava, who treated Dembele.
There’s no official confirmation of how long he will be out for, but it’s a massive blow for Alena who is expected to be part of the first-team squad next season.
Manager Ernesto Valverde has already said he wants Alena in the squad next season, but it looks like he’ll miss pre-season and the start of the new campaign.
