Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde was full of praise for Lionel Messi after he produced a masterclass in the 6-1 win over Girona at Camp Nou on Saturday.
Messi scored twice and was pretty much unplayable as Barcelona extended their lead at the top of the table to 10 points.
It’s fair to say that Valverde was impressed with his skipper’s performance.
“Leo makes things appear easy, but they aren’t easy. It’s hard to judge a performance like this,” he said.
”Just when you think you’ve seen everything from a player, he goes and surprises you once more. We are always waiting to see just how he will raise the bar next.”

Messi now has 22 goals and 12 assists in 25 La Liga outings this season and Girona, like so many teams before them, simply had no answer to the brilliant Argentine.
