China has the money, but Masche's heart belongs to Barça
The Chinese Super League has all the cash and then some, but their millions and millions won't take away a Barcelona star from Camp Nou.
According to an exclusive (!!!!) report from Diario Sport, Barça defender Javier Mascherano has learned he will receive quite a few millionaire offers from various Chinese teams, but has already told his agent to not even consider and immediately reject all of them.
Mascherano was heavily linked with a departure from Camp Nou this summer, and the player himself admitted conversations with Juventus, but he decided not to follow his former teammate Dani Alves to Italy and stay a part of the Blaugrana squad. Coach Luis Enrique assured Mascherano he would remain a key piece of the team despite the signing of defender Samuel Umtiti, who did win Masche's starting spot in central defense before he went down with an injury.
El Jefecito has been one of the most consistent performers for Barça ever since Pep Guardiola converted him to a full-time center-back in the 2011 Champions League Final against Manchester United. Mascherano has been in somewhat poor form this season, but is still good enough to make a good number of appearances and help nurture Umtiti until the Frenchman is ready to be a full-time starter.
According to the report, Mascherano may only consider leaving the Camp Nou after the 2018 World Cup, but even then he doesn't plan a move to Asia, with a return to Argentina or a move to another European club remaining the only two options for him once he's ready to leave the Catalan giants. Sorry, China.
