Marc-André ter Stegen admits terrible mistake in Barcelona loss to Celta Vigo

It was bad from MATS, but he didn't shy away from taking the blame

Barcelona lost their second match in La Liga this season on Sunday against Celta Vigo, and it was a painful loss to watch. After falling down 3-0 in the first half, the Blaugrana came back and scored two early goals and looked ready to get a comeback victory, until keeper Marc-André ter Stegen made a terrible, costly mistake.

The German keeper who is amazing with the ball on his feet, tried to play a pass over the top of Pablo Hernández, but the ball hit the head of the Celta attacker and bounced off the post to the back of the net, putting Celta ahead by two goals and ending any real chances of a Barça comeback.

Most players wouldn't want to speak to the media after such a bad moment, but Ter Stegen didn't shy away from taking the blame and admitted his mistake, adding that his gaffe destroyed Barça's chances in the match.

“The second half was better and we played how Barça should. If I had not made that mistake in that situation we would have had the chance to win the game. I feel bad for the team that fought hard.

“It is an error that has occurred that should never occur. And now I cannot be thinking about it all the time. I raise my head and move forward with the team."
