BREAKING: Barcelona defender Jordi Alba leaves Spain World Cup Qualifying match with injury

Thanks, international break!

The international break has made its first Barcelona victim.

Spain full-back Jordi Alba was forced to leave the European World Cup Qualifying match against Italy at Juventus Stadium on Thursday, and was replaced by Real Madrid's Nacho after just 20 minutes with what appears to be a muscle injury.

The Blaugrana star hurt himself and the injury doesn't appear to be the result of any kind of contact with an opponent, which is definitely a worrying sign. Alba will likely return to Catalonia shortly after the match to begin treatment on the injury with Barcelona doctors once it's diagnosed.

Hopefully it's nothing serious, but unlike previous seasons, Barça coach Luis Enrique does have cover in the position if Alba's injury is serious and requires an extended period on the sidelines. Lucas Digne was signed in the summer and has played well in place of Alba in his early appearances this season, and the young Frenchman may have to start a few consecutive games now.

Thanks, international break!
