The club criticized Brazil’s team doctor
The beginnings of Neymar’s “divorce” with Paris Saint-Germain started over his ankle injury, according to Diario SPORT. The Brazilian was treated by Brazil’s team doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, in March 2018. Dr. Lasmar inserted a screw into the player’s foot to help him heal as part of the surgery.
However, in January 2019, the player suffered a relapse after a tackle during a cup game with PSG. That’s when the French club advised him to seek surgery, but the player himself wanted to feature in Copa América 2019, to be held in his home country, per the report.
During the dispute, PSG’s medical staff said the operation that Dr. Lasmar conducted was not satisfactory and the screw that was placed in Neymar’s foot was too small.
According to the report, one of PSG’s doctors, Gérard Saillant, got into an argument with Neymar’s father, Neymar Da Silva, Sr. PSG’s medical staff reportedly thinks the relapse was in part the fault of Dr. Lasmar, something the player’s father disputed.
It’s from this dispute that led to the final straw between the Brazilian star and the French club. Now, it’s a matter of finding an exit for the player, but it won’t be easy. Several clubs are said to be interested, but none have come close to matching Paris’s asking price for Neymar. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich, and Manchester United are said to be some of the clubs that could become destinations for the player.
